Wisdom

Quote

The endless cycle of idea and action,

Endless invention, endless experiment,

Brings knowledge of motion, but not of stillness;

Knowledge of speech, but not of silence;

Knowledge of words, and ignorance of the Word….

Where is the Life we have lost in living?

Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?

Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?

T. S. Eliot

The Four Elements

My recent Wedding Ceremony invoked the four directions of East, South, West and North and aligned all those present with the four elements.  The effect was the most incredible, happy and loving energy which is still pulsating through us.

The guests were not aware until they arrived on the day that they would be seated in an amphitheatre on earth over-looking the beautiful aquamarine water of the ocean, whilst being warmed by the suns glow of fire and breathing in the fresh mountain air.

Our union was blessed with the gifts of each element.   We exchanged personal vows expanding on the qualities of the four elements and the capacity in which they are the foundations and symbols of alignment for our marriage.

There is a great deal for everyone to recognise and consider in the meaning that each element holds.   I hope you find this inspiring and useful:

Earth – is rich, natural and strong yet soft, always growing and patient.

Fire – is passionate, intense and energetic, it generates radiance and warmth.

Water – is fluid and ever changing, never still, vast and fresh.

Air – is positive and carefree, sharing dreams, thoughts and emotions.

Let us not also forget the fifth element – the Ether – our spiritual energy.

“The greatest wisdom is in simplicity, love, respect, tolerance, sharing, gratitude, forgiveness.  It is not complex or elaborate.  All you need is within you.  Find your heart, and you will find your way”.   From Carlos Barrios, Mayan Elder and Ajq’ij of the Eagle Clan.

With this we all joined hands and with our hands our hearts.
