Weekly Photo Challenge: The World Through Your Eyes.

This photo is from a very memorable time in my life when I had the privilege of meeting this special little boy and teaching him at his school in Itzapa, Guatemala.  Through my eyes I am met by his smiling cheeky expression which touched my world so much.  For even though his circumstances were very under-privileged and tough, his courage and spirit were incredibly humbling and inspiring.  I am glad I made the time to experience his world through my eyes and was able to help him in the small way I could.  The world through his eyes at that moment was my beaming face and camera pointing at him.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Escape…

Wow!  The Honeymoon Escape!

Truly a once in a lifetime experience.  Hopefully because you only get married once and also because it is a holiday that certainly costs a little more than your average break.  It was a complete escape from reality, no phones, no internet, no tv and no responsibilities or decisions.  The only choices to make were when to swim, eat and sleep and really they weren’t decisions they just kind of happened.

After all the excitement and flurry of the wedding planning, organising and then the event itself a honeymoon is exactly what’s required.  No more questions, up-dates or conversations with friends, aunties, uncles, cousins, parents….. Finally just the two of you escaping into each others love to absorb everything that just happened and revel in the new warm feeling of being married; peacefully and alone together at last.   This opportunity may not come along quite like this again for some time!

So what an escape it was, we traveled to the Maldives for an idyillic 10 days of warm sunshine, clear blue turquoise ocean, spectacular snorkeling and delectable cuisine.  We could well have been in heaven and I would give anything to escape right back there!

Here are some photographs I think display escape, including one of my friend the crab who would subtly escape underneath the deck whenever we ventured out to sunbathe.  He also knew we needed our privacy!

Finding calm at Cranbourne…

In the chaos of packing and selling furniture on e.bay it has become rather unrestful at home and increasingly hard to find any inner peace with so much going on.  In fact there is no longer a table to eat at or a chair to sit on and I had to buy a beanbag just so I can camp out in the middle of the empty sitting room!  It is not so bad though…. it feels like I am at the moonlight cinema!

Yikes…. it is now under two weeks to go until I leave the shores of Australia and the excitement and nerves are starting to become en-heightened along with the sad feeling of leaving behind good friends and familiar places.  See you soon is how I prefer to leave it.

In search of some calm at the weekend and an opportunity to squeeze in a final visit to another beautiful place in Victoria I visited the Royal Botanic Gardens at Cranbourne.

Here are some of my highlights:

Weekly Photo Challenge: Pattern.

This is an amazing pattern taken from a vibrant piece of artwork I had the pleasure of viewing at the Eclipse Festival in far North Queensland, Australia back in November 2012.

It sends the eyes a little crazy if you look at it for too long!
